Skin Care

Medically guided skin care is a highly effective way to improve your skin. Medical skin care goes far beyond department store creams and moisturizers. The daily application of physician prescribed or dispensed skin care products can be used alone or in combination with light or medium chemical peels, and laser treatments. All of these treatments help smooth irregular skin pigmentation and improve fine wrinkles and surface irregularities. Acne is generally improved, too. The end result is smoother, firmer skin with a healthier glow. Medical skin care greatly enhances the results of facial cosmetic surgery.

Non-surgical enhancements which complement skin care include Botox®Restylane®, and micropigmentation which allows medical grade tattoo application for permanent eyeliner, lip liner, full lip color and scar camouflage. All of these services are offered by Jessica Friedman, RN, BSN.

As we age our skin thins and weakens. The outer layer of cells gets drier and begins to “cake up”, creating a duller, pale look. It’s almost like dust collecting on furniture. Medical skin products such as Retin-A free up the dry adherent cells helping to reveal the deeper, shinier layer. The dull hue is gradually replaced by a younger rosier surface appearance. Additionally, these products thicken and rejuvenate the underlying collagen, much like weight lifting affects muscle fibers. The results continue to improve for many months. Ultimately the skin tightens and fine lines soften. It’s important to stick with it. The peak effects takes time and the benefits gradually fade when skin care is discontinued.

Dermaplaning:

This non-abrasive, cutting-edge technique is ideal for smoothing the skin and refining the pores. During treatment, a modified scalpel is used to gently scrape the surface of the skin to remove environmentally damaged skin, dead skin cells, and fine facial hair. The dermaplaning is followed by a secondary exfoliation using an acid solution, which is left on to remove the residue of the remaining skin cells. Immediately, the skin feels softer to the touch and the skin tone and texture are improved.

Chemical Peels:

Acid peels are effective for exfoliating, regenerating, and stimulating the skin. We offer mild, moderate, and deep chemical peels with a variety of exfoliating agents such as Alpha Hydroxy Acids, TCA, salicylic acid, and retinol. Jessica will determine the acid type and strength depending on your skin type and aesthetic goals.
